Matheatre announces exciting partnership with KNOW THEATRE of Cincinnati!

After two years of touring our own little show throughout the US and Canada, bringing the joy of Calculus to over 20,000 individual students, math enthusiasts and curiosity seekers, Marc and I will be retiring from performance of “Calculus: The Musical!”

Don’t cry on your calculuator! This is a good thing!

We are CRAZY EXCITED to announce that the tour of “Calculus: The Musical” will now be produced by Know Theatre of Cincinnati, as part of their “Know-To-Go” education series! This means fantastic improvements to “Calculus: The Musical!” as it continues to tour under new, fresh artistic leadership.

The Know Theatre’s production will still be the comic “review” of the concepts and history of Calculus that Sadie and Marc brought to your school or event–but with big improvements. The tour will now feature two casts of professional actors/teachers–one which will tour throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, and one which will tour nationally. The new casts, along with the support base of a professional theatre company and its staff, will improve production values as well as increase availability as demand for performances continues to grow. Yours truly, Sadie Bowman, will be joining Know Theatre’s full-time staff in Cincinnati as Education Coordinator, so while business aspects will be routed through Know Theatre, I will remain your point of contact as we schedule performances both locally and nationally.

Marc and I, along with Know Theatre’s managers Eric Vosmeier (Managing Director) and Jason Bruffy (Artistic Director) look forward to continuing to put the “edge” back in “education” by keeping Calculus in the hearts of math lovers, theatre lovers, and everyone in between as “Calculus: The Musical!” continues to tour far and wide. Please join us in welcoming the new “Calcul-actors” to the family!

But don’t worry–Matheatre isn’t finished yet! Marc has been hard at work composing and recording a new album of all-original math music (available here soon!), and the long-hinted-at Geometry opera is still in the oven. We of Matheatre are delighted to pass the torch of touring on to the cast and staff of Know Theatre. I am especially excited in my new role with Know Theatre and to be able to continue working with all of you.

That said, we are now officially accepting booking requests for “Calculus: The Musical!” for the 2008-09 school year, so send me your inquiries soon to get on our calendar!

Well, we did it. We’ve finished up our second school year on the road–in which we visited nearly fifty different schools and a large handful of conferences in thirteen different states and one Canadian province, as well as a second sold-out run of public shows in Cincinnati, OH. We continue to be grateful for all of the support and enthusiasm that our audiences continue to give.

So thank you!

We’re both looking forward to a relaxing summer on hiatus from “Calculus: The Musical!” But WATCH THIS WEBSITE! Some big news is about to break, and it’s gonna be loud!

We have now departed from the balmy warmth of Texas and are returning to catch the tail end of the midwest’s winter.

We’re on the road again!

Thanks SDSU in Brookings for hosting us on a cold winter’s evening last week!

And thank you to everyone in Colorado for welcoming us back! It was a fun, if brief visit and we plowed through four schools, all of which were great.

This morning we made a quick stop in Kansas for an awesome show at Cowley County Community College and now we have a very very short break before resuming work this weekend.

We’ve just wrapped up another great visit to our favorite country that borders the northern US!

Thanks to all of the Ontario schools who hosted us this time, as well as the Canadian Mathematical Society for holding a performance as part of the “Math Imagination” series.

And thank you to Western Michigan University for PACKING THE HOUSE on December 6! That was so fun!!! Sorry if you got kicked or had props bounce off your head if you were forced to sit on the stage…that’s just a risk you gotta run, I guess.

We’re now finishing out 2007 by looking forward and scheduling for spring of 2008! If you’re interested in booking, talk to us soon!

We have a break from performing now until February when we hit the road again. We’ll be spending the time on various other pursuits and being grateful for what an excellent year 2007 has been! Thank you to everyone who’s supported us and been part of this fun and successful year.

For you students and teachers who are busy with finals and about to hit holiday breaks, good luck and have fun! We’ll see you in ‘08!
